Masks of Fabled Lands

Author: Thomas Murray

9.25 x 13.25”, 89pp., illustrated in colour, text in English and French, Hong Kong, 2009.

In this publication, it includes three primary categories of masks: Indonesian, Himalaya and Outliers. All are rich traditions fully deserving their own individual catalogs. The first two regions are primary, offering a sufficient number of examples that the reader may glean insight into the cultures of Indonesia and the Himalayas as a whole. The Outliers are far too few in number to “build the case” effectively for the cultures in which they arise, but it is hoped that their presence enriches the discussion by exploring the outer boundary zones of the primary cultures.
